The Team Attack (Japanese: みんなでアタック) is a game mechanic in Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. It is an attack that damages all enemies in the room and that can have additional effects depending on the type of the current leader. It can only be used occasionally when certain circumstances are met.

Unlocking

Team Attacks are automatically unlocked early on in the story after completing Desolate Canyon, when the hero and partner form their team and receive Team Badges, which are necessary to perform Team Attacks. Once obtained, Team Badges can't be lost, so Team Attacks can be used whenever the other requirements are met. Team Attacks can also be used in Discover a Magnagate! dungeons.

Using a Team Attack

While adventuring in a dungeon, if the player's party consists of more than one Pokémon, they will become in sync. When the party is fully in sync, a yellow Team Badge icon to the left of the leader's name on the top screen. When this happens, a Team Attack can be used by holding L and pressing the big button that appears on the touch screen. After it's used, it will take a while before the party is fully in sync again. Trying to use a Team Attack when there are no enemies nearby simply displays a message saying that it can't be used, without removing the possibility to use it later.

Sync

While the sync value isn't shown to the player, it can be analyzed using hacking tools. The value goes from 0 to 4,000 and resets back to 0 when a Team Attack is used. The Team Attack can only be used when the value reaches 4,000.

Sync increases on turns during which certain events happen. Each event increases sync by a base amount. If certain things are true, a modifier is applied to the base amount, giving the team even more sync for each event.

There are five known modifiers that can be applied to the base amount: one is the V-Wave effect "Easier Team Attacks", the other four come from equipping the Coalition Scarf on each Pokémon in the party (max party size is 4, each Coalition Scarf applies one modifier).

Many of the events involve defeating enemies. When an enemy is defeated, the amount of enemies in the current room determines the base sync gained from defeating that enemy.

The following table shows all known events and modifiers with their sync gains.

The in-game tutorial hint claims a bigger party makes it easier to get in sync, this is likely only true indirectly, because the more Pokémon are in the party, the more events happen, and more Coalition Scarves can be equipped.

Using a Team Attack damages all foes in the room. The more party members, the higher the damage dealt to enemies is. It also has additional effects that change depending on the type of the leader.
