Kecleon Shops (Japanese: カクレオンのおみせ) are shops that appear in dungeons in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. They cover an entire room of carpet tiles, where items are placed to be bought by the player. The player can also place items in the room to sell them to the owner, who guards the entrances/exits to the room. The shop area is defined by the carpet tiles. Each floor of each dungeon has a different chance of a Kecleon Shop appearing, which is from none to guaranteed. This can also be different depending on whether the dungeon was accessed normally or by accepting a job. Items in the shop cannot be used before they are bought or fully stolen by leaving the shop room after taking them.
Floors 90 and 95 of Path of No Return are guaranteed to have Kecleon Shops.
There is a 50% chance for Kecleon Shops to appear on floors 12, 18, and 24 of Cape at the Edge and floor 98 of Path of No Return.
Mechanics
The cost and value of items are the same as the Kecleon Shop in Post Town, however, the cost can be reduced by 25% if the current leader is affected by the "Shop Discounts" V-Wave. The Shop-Seeking Team Skill informs the player when a floor with a Kecleon Shop is entered.
Selling Items
To sell items, items that do not belong to Kecleon can be placed on the floor. If there are unsold items in the shop area, Kecleon will ask to buy the items placed on the floor first before demanding payment.
Buying Items
To buy items, the player simply has to pick them up, and pay by talking to Kecleon or walking towards an exit.
Theft
If the team leaves the shop area but refuses to pay for Kecleon Shop merchandise picked up on the floor, the effects of theft are as follows:
- The Dungeon Status is changed to Thief Alert.
- The background music changes from "Kecleon Shop" to "Stop, Thief!".
- The shop itself becomes no different than ordinary ground, aside from its appearance.
- In addition to the Kecleon that ran the shop becoming hostile, Kecleon begin to spawn across the floor.
The effects above apply as long as the party remains on the floor where they stole items from a shop, so once the party proceeds to the next floor, the effects above no longer take effect.
Strategy
If a Pokémon tries to attack with a move another Pokémon whose stats are particularly high in comparison, no damage will be inflicted. This is often the case with Kecleon. To defeat Kecleon in this game in those situations, the player can use Team Attacks or Blast Seeds. Another way is to reduce Kecleon's level to 1 by using a Devolve Orb.
