Amteca, The Golden City (Japanese: 黄金都市) is an ancient city originally under the protection of the The Golden Condor and the guardian deity, the Chief God of the Beast Gods, Riva. On the night of the 300th moon, an evil creature that ate gold appeared. The Golden Condor was bound by the Cords of Hell. Bereft of protection from the sacred bird, the city was dealt a catastrophic blow. Devastated by the corruption of the Tainted Insect, the people of the Golden City met their end with their city and plead for some future savior to set free the Golden Condor.

Though monsters do not initially spawn in towns, nor do they spawn as turns pass, if Shiren throws a Monster Jar or triggers a Summons Trap, monsters will spawn, specific to the town:

Amteca, the Golden City This city is rich in the brightest gold, bathed in the light of the sacred bird.

This is Amteca, the Golden City. The city was built atop this mount protected by its Guardian Deity, Riva, and the Golden Condor.

On the night of the 300th moon, an evil creature that ate gold suddenly appeared. The Golden Condor was bound by the Cords of Hell. Bereft of protection from the sacred bird, the city was dealt a catastrophic blow.

We now fall, together with our city. May the creature, glutted with our gold, die as well. In some distant future, should someone gaze upon this... He shall be the chose one, from across the valley and the three protective barriers.

May he hear our plea. Set free the Golden Condor!

The Golden Condor awaits you in the Waterfall Cavern beyond the Rainbow's End.

The Golden Condor shall be freed when the cords that bind it are severed. But only once the creature therein has died can they be severed.

Tainted Path Entrance

On the night of the 300th moon, a creature of evil came forth from here. This place is now sealed in an attempt to stem the spread of this evil.

「黄金都市アムテカ」 ここはまはゆし黄金があふれる都。そして神島を守護に栄える光の国だ。

ここは黄金の都アムテカ。黄金のコンドルを神島とし守神リーパとさだめこの山頂に都市をきずく。

300を数えた月の液どつじょとして黄金をむしばむ魔物が出現。黄金のコンドルを地の糸で封印する。そして神島の力を失った都市は かいめつ的な だげきを受けた。

われわれもこの都市とともにしずむ。そして魔物もやがては黄金を食いつくし 死んでいくだろう。それからどのぐらいの月を数えるのかわからないがこれを目にする人間......それは谷をこえ三つの守護地形をものりこえて来る酒はれし者だ。

その者にわれわれの願いを問き入れてほしい。 黄金のコンドルを、どき放つのだ。

黄金のコンドルは『虹の根もと』の おくにある滝幸の洞窟にいる。

黄金のコンドルは魔物の糸を斬れば自由になると思われる。ただしそれは魔初が死んでいればの話だ。
