History
Early Stages
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team began development around November 2003.[1] At the time, Chunsoft was facing financial troubles, and employees were being paid less, or would leave the company.[2] In a 2012 interview, Shin'ichiro Tomie revealed he initially wrote a completely different story script, before presenting the idea that would later become the story of the released game. No information on the original concept was given. The existence of the game was leaked online in August 2004 under the title Mystery Dungeon: Pokémon World: Pikachu's Great Adventure
in a thread discussing Chunsoft's financial troubles.
Official Reveal
The game was officially revealed in August 2005 and the Japanese release date was announced in September. More details regarding the gameplay and plot were revealed later that month.
Release
The game was released in Japan on November 17, 2005. The game unexpectedly turned out to be a financial success, saving Chunsoft from bankruptcy.[2] In November, Nintendo warned against a bug in the Japanese version of Blue Rescue Team involving its connectivity with its GBA counterpart, Red Rescue Team, which would completely erase the contents of any other Game Boy Advance games besides Red Rescue Team that was inserted into the system. Nintendo quickly patched the bug upon discovering it and issued a new shipment of replacement DS cards with the patch on December 8. At E3 2006, Nintendo announced the English release of the games and revealed the release date later that month. The game eventually came out in western countries in September and November 2006. 
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gold Rescue Team -Challenge the Gold Rank!-, a Windows demo of the game, was released online for South Korea on August 11, 2007, followed by the South Korean release of Blue Rescue Team on August 30, 2007.
