Monsters (Japanese: モンスター) are the enemies in Etrian Mystery Dungeon. They are found in dungeons and attack the player and their Party. Each time the player enters a floor in a dungeon, monsters will be spawned on the Floor, and more of them will spawn after set numbers of turns. Monsters have different skills and stats depending on their species. Experience given and Skills of a monster of a given species are always the same, however their HP, Attack and Defense vary depending on the dungeon and on the floor of the dungeon. Some monsters have a shining aura; they are Rare Breeds. These monsters are stronger than normal monsters on the same floor of the dungeon and offer more experience. Monsters defeated are registered in the Monster Tome and can be viewed in the Menu Reference and at Stein Labs with an image of the monster. There are 124 monsters, of which 17 are bosses, 32 are DOE and 75 are neither bosses nor DOE.
