Fusion (Japanese: 合成) is an item mechanic in 
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 3 - The Sleeping Princess and the Karakuri Mansion. Fusion allows players to use a Melding Jar to combine two or more items of the same type together.
Fusion combines Staff charges of the same type into a single item, freeing up inventory space. Armbands, Shields, or Weapon Runes can be combined together. Fusion is required for many Item Transformations

Placing an item in an unpaid melding jar in a Dungeon Shop will not combine them, but the jar will still lose a slot.
A more advanced form of Fusion called Cross-Mixing utilizes the Mixer Family and allows players to create Runes from Scrolls, and Herbs.
