Gitan (Japanese: ギタン) is the currency used in Super Famicom Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer. It can be used to buy Items, use services or damage enemies. It can be found in dungeons.

Picking up

Like with items, Gitan bags can be picked up by stepping on them. If picked up, Gitan is added to the player's Gitan count on the top right of the screen. Bags won't be picked up if the inventory is full, or if the player runs over them by holding B. Opening the menu and selecting "Floors" reveals the options "Take", "Toss" and "Info". In this game, Gitan bags can't be put in the inventory by swapping them with an item, however, it can be inserted in a jar, from which it can then be tossed or taken out to be kept in the inventory. Pressing Y to sort the inventory does not remove Gitan from the inventory.

Tossing

Tossing a Gitan bag at an enemy deals damage of amount/10 rounded down.
