Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness (Japanese: ポケモン不思議のダンジョン 時の探検隊・闇の探検隊, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Time Exploration Team・Darkness Exploration Team) is the second Pokémon Mystery Dungeon anime special. Set during the events of Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it follows Chimchar and a human turned Piplup as they try to save the world from destruction.

Plot

WHEN CHIMCHAR, A LESS-THAN-CONFIDENT... ...wannabe Exploration Team member, stumbles across Piplup, face down on a sandy beach, the pieces that will lead to the formation of "Team Poképals" fall into place. With the Piplip bizarrely[sic] claiming to have been a human, Chimchar plucks up the courage to visit wise Pokémon Guildmaster Wigglytuff and its Guild to try to solve the mystery.

Join Piplup and Charmander as they embark on their first adventure that leads them to the deepest and darkest dungeon imaginable. Will Chimchar and Piplup's friendship provide them with the strength to save the day, or will this Mystery Dungeon prove too much for the inexperienced "Team Pokepals?"

Dub edits

  • All Pokémon names are changed to their western English counterparts.
  • The name of the team formed by the protagonists is Team Poképals instead of Pokéduns(UT) - This is an unofficial translation. (ポケダンズ).
    • In the dub, Chimchar explains he chose that name because he thinks friends are important, while in Japanese he instead explains that Pokéduns is Pokémon Dungeons for short. "Pokédun" is also the abbreviation of the name of the series in Japanese.
