Weapons are the primary method by which Shiren deals damage in Game Boy Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer GB - Monster of Moonlight Village. While Shiren's fists, Projectiles, Staves, Traps, and Scrolls can be used as improvised weapons, or directly used as weapons, weapons are their own category of Items ranging from A Cudgel, to cleavers, axes, Katana's, and other bladed weapons.

Damage

Weapons increase Shiren's Attack stat, and will cause him to do more HP damage to the Monsters or Adventure Allies he attacks. If a Strength Herb is consumed, or a Power Up Scroll is read, these too will increase the damage done by Shiren's wielded weapons.

Strength

Weapons each have their innate strength, as well as an Upgrade Value that can range from +0, to be increased to +99, which will also increase the amount of damage they deal.

Runes

Some weapons have an innate Rune that will give the weapon a special effect, such as never missing an attack, but these weapons may have a weaker Attack value than an item like the Mastersword or Kabra's Blade.

Some runes deal increased damage to monsters of a certain Type, such as the Dragonkiller dealing increased damage to Dragon-type monsters.

Fusion

Weapons can be combined to create an all-in-one weapon that includes the innate rune from every other weapon using a process called Fusion. To fuse items together, a Melding Jar is needed, where the first item inserted is treated as the base, and anything inserted afterward is applied to the base. For example, inserting a Razor Wind +3, and a Homing Blade +2 will result in a Razor Wind +5 that can never miss.

Transformation

Some weapons can only be obtained through Item Transformation, and are often much stronger than those found naturally in dungeons. These have limited use, however, as items can't be brought into Fay's Puzzles, nor can they be carried into Moonlight Village Exit, leaving only Sacrifice Pass, where they'd be overkill long before the player is capable of obtaining them, and to obtain them would require a decent amount of skill anyway.

The two weapons created through item transformation are the Firebrand, from increasing a Katana to +99, and the Kabra Reborn, from increasing a Kabra's Blade to +99 and inserting it into a Jar of Change.
