Synopsis

The demo for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX was announced on January 9, 2020, on the official Nintendo YouTube channel[Citation needed], it was the downloadable and playable demo for the Nintendo Switch home console.

Gameplay

The demo behaves similarly to the demos of the original Red & Blue Rescue Team with a few tweaks.

The games boot up the same as the retail releases with the only major difference being the logo modified to include the word 'demo' or the various localization of the word. Rescue Team DX has only one menu option at the beginning: New Game. When selecting new game, the demo plays the normal introduction of the game. The player does get to choose their character or Partner after the Personality Test. The player must travel through Tiny Woods to rescue Caterpie and reunite him with his mother, Butterfree. The partner shows the player to a base that they can use as a home and they decide to form a Rescue Team together. After this event, the player can change the team's name in the Main Menu as well as the name of his Pokémon and his partner's. After getting news from the local mail-delivery Pelipper they set out to separate a couple Magnemite that have been stuck together and traverse through Thunderwave Cave. After rescuing the two Magnemite, they thank the player and the demo ends after completing two more random missions and before Mt. Steel. Options like the Wonder Mail are also unlocked in the Main Menu but cannot be chosen prior to the demo. The player cannot enter the Pelipper Post Office or any available dungeons, except the Dojo, in the game after that.
