Runes are the special abilities of some weapons, Shields, and Armbands in Template:GameTitle. Some are intrinsic to the items, while others can be generated through other means.
Runes
Runes (Japanese: 神器), also known as Seals is an example of an early name we've decided to do away with. When Shiren 5 on the Vita was localized, it introduced a new status for items, known as "Sealed"Lore, and renamed Seals to Runes. On top of the "Sealed" Status Condition (for Monsters) functioning similar to the new item counterpart, we've decided to adopt Rune as the official name of choice in order to prevent further confusion.
Rune Kanji Colors
- Runes with blue kana are unique; only one of these can appear on an item.
- Runes with black kana are fixed; more than one of these can be melded to an item, but will not enhance the ability.
- Runes with white kana are stackable; by melding more than one of these to an item, the ability will be multiplied.
- Runes with yellow kana have a chance of destroying the item they're melded to when activated. The Sturdy (∞) rune prevents the item from being destroyed by this effect.
Weapon Runes
Every intrinsic weapon rune icon is red, purple icons are from Dragon Orbs or items being fused to a weapon from a Mixer Family monster.
Shield Seals
Every shield seal icon is green, purple icons are from Dragon Orbs or items being melded to a shield from a Mixer monster.
Armband Seals
Every armband seal icon is blue, purple icons are from Dragon Orbs.
