'''Fusion''' {{JA|???||}} is the key to creating powerful equipment in Shiren 3. The most you can get from the {{Shiren3Wii|Blacksmith}} or an {{Shiren3Wii|Air Bless Scroll}} or {{Shiren3Wii|Earth Bless Scroll}} is +1 and, on rare occasions, +3. Although it may seem obvious to some, many people miss the fact that fusion is one of the easiest ways to quickly boost up your {{Shiren3Wii|Katana}}, {{Shiren3Wii|Mastersword}}, {{Shiren3Wii|Wind Shield}} (or what have you) to their maximum bonus. {{Shiren3Wii|Dragon Orb}}s aren't unlocked until roughly one-third of the way through the story and if you lose all your {{Shiren3Wii|item}}s, it can be hard to survive in a {{Shiren3Wii|dungeon}} with Dragon Orbs to raise a piece of equipment up. You can use a {{Shiren3Wii|Blank Scroll}} as an Air or Earth Bless Scroll to upgrade your equipment, but it's far easier to use random loot found in dungeons.

==Melding Methods==
Fusion combines {{Shiren3Wii|Staff}} charges of the same type into a single item, freeing up inventory space. {{Shiren3Wii|Armband}}s, {{Shiren3Wii|Shield}}s, or {{Shiren3Wii|Weapon}} {{Shiren3Wii|Rune}}s{{NT}} can be combined together. Fusion is required for many {{Shiren3Wii|Item Transformation}}s{{UN}}.
In Shiren 3, there are two methods to meld items together.

===Melding Jar===
Placing an item in an unpaid melding jar in a {{Shiren3Wii|Dungeon Shop}} will not combine them, but the jar will still lose a slot.
Inserting two or more items of the same type into a {{Shiren3Wii|Melding Jar}} will combine them into a single item, melding their bonuses, charges, and/or effects. This can be done with weapons, shields, armbands, and {{Shiren3Wii|staves}}. In {{Shiren3Wii|Dungeon Shop}}s, placing an item in a melding jar that you haven't paid for will not combine with a similar item in the jar, but the jar will still lose a slot. (This works the same for a {{Shiren3Wii|Jar of Change}}.) Inserting items that are not weapons, shields, armbands, or staves into a Melding Jar will use a slot, but produce no other effect. You can retrieve such items normally. You can use one Jar simultaneously with different types of items. The first weapon or shield inserted will be the "base" item. All subsequent items of the same type Inserted into the Jar will add their bonuses (+1, +3, etc) and any and all effects (e.g. rust-proof, sped up hunger or slow hunger, etc.) to the base item. Weapon and Shield effects are not interchangeable. Bonuses from shields cannot be Melded onto weapons, and vice-versa. Melding with items that either already have the given effects or that are at their maximum bonus value will waste the "extra" effects or bonuses.

===Mixer Monster Family===
A more advanced form of Fusion called called {{Shiren3Wii|Cross-Mixing}}{{NT}} utilizes the {{Shiren3Wii|Mixer Monster Family}} and allows players to create Runes from {{Shiren3Wii|Scroll}}s, and {{Shiren3Wii|{{Shiren3Wii|Herb}}s.
Mixer monsters and their leveled forms allow you to combine 2 - 5 items depending on the level of the monster. They work entirely the same as melding jars, up to a point. By throwing certain items at a mixer monster or eating mixer monster {{Shiren3Wii|meat}} and stepping over items, you can add special seals to your equipment.
