Effect
When Asleep, monsters are unable to act in any way. They will not act the turn the status ends. Their sprites are frozen.
How to get affected
Monsters have a 50% chance to spawn Asleep. Any monster type can spawn this way except for Druin, Goopi, Shadow, Demonite, Yeti, Metabble and Stone Man because they always spawn affected by another status condition, as part of their Special Abilities. Monsters spawned in Monster Houses can't spawn this way.
How to cure
Monsters that spawn Asleep this way will not wake up on their own. Instead they can wake up based on Torneko's actions :
- They have a 50% chance of waking up everytime Torneko enters or leaves the room they're in, unless he has the Thief Ring equipped or he's afflicted by the Blind status. Torneko spawning when changing floors, getting warped or getting cured from the Blind status inside a room counts as entering it. If Torneko is equipped with the Wakeful Ring, they will always wake up instead.
- They have a 50% chance of waking up every turn Torneko stands on tile adjacent to them.
- They will always wake up from any damage source or getting afflicted by another status.
Monster House Sleep
Duration
Monsters stay asleep permanently until interrupted.
Effect
When Asleep, monsters are unable to act in any way. They will not act the turn the status end. Their sprites are frozen.
How to get affected
Monsters that spawn inside a Monster house always spawn afflicted by this type of sleep.
How to cure
Monsters that spawn Asleep this way will not wake up on their own. Instead they can wake up based on Torneko's actions :
- They will all wake up at the same time when Torneko enters the Monster House room, unless he has the Thief Ring equipped or he's afflicted by the Blind status. Torneko spawning when changing floors, getting warped and getting cured from the Blind status inside a room counts as entering it.
- They have a 50% chance of waking up every turn Torneko stands on a tile adjacent to them.
- They will always wake up from any damage source or getting afflicted by another status.
Special Ability
Stone Mans always spawn in a state similar to Sleep as part of their Special Ability.
The main difference is that they will always wake up the turn Torneko goes on an tile adjacent to them and get the first hit on Torneko.
Interactions with other status conditions
- The Asleep status replaces the Paralyzed status. It will stack with any other status condition.
- The Asleep status will freeze the Confused and Misled status duration. Once this status ends, the timer will starts again normally.
Gameplay tips
- When inside a room with sleeping monsters, consider dealing with them now as they have a high chance of waking up as you leave. Sleeping monsters can be killed relatively safely with Arrows or other projectiles by standing as far as possible.
- Blind Torneko with a Blinding Herb to avoid waking up monsters in rooms, including Monster Houses.
