{{Shiren|Rune}}s {{JAnb|神器||}}, also known as Seals is an example of an early name we've decided to do away with. When Shiren 5 on the Vita was localized, it introduced a new status for {{Shiren3Wii|items}}, known as "{{ShirenI|Sealed}}"{{Lore}}, and renamed Seals to Runes. On top of the "{{Shiren3WiiS|Sealed}}" {{Shiren3Wii|Status Condition}} (for {{Shiren3Wii|Monster}}s) functioning similar to the new item counterpart, we've decided to adopt Rune as the official name of choice in order to prevent further confusion.

This Rune page is about the Nintendo Wii release. For the PlayStation Portable release, see Shiren 3 PSP:Rune.
For the lore page, see Shiren:Rune.

Runes are the special abilities of some weapons, Shields, and Armbands in Wii Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 3 - The Sleeping Princess and the Karakuri Mansion. Some are intrinsic to the items, while others can be generated through other means.

Seals

Seal is the official name for Runes in Shiren 3 Wii. We've decided to do away with in favor of the later name, Runes When Shiren 5 on the Vita was localized Seals were renamed to Runes (Japanese: 神器) as it also introduced a new status for Items, known as "Sealed"Lore. On top of the "Sealed" Status Abnormality (for Monsters) functioning similarly to the new item counterpart, we've decided to adopt Rune as the official name of choice in order to prevent confusion.

Rune Colors

Each of the 3 item categories features a different color, with a fourth color to denote Dragon Orbs and Cross-Mixing.

  • Armband rune icons are blue.
  • Shield rune icons are green.
  • Weapon rune icons are red.
  • Purple icons are from Dragon Orbs or from items being fused to a weapon or Shield through Cross-Mixing.

Acquisition

Many Armbands, Shields, and Weapons have intrinsic Runes. They can be transferred from one item to another, provided the item has enough available Rune slots (represented by a gray circle in the item description.) using Fusion or Cross-Mixing.

Types

Rues each have their own abilities, yet their Kanji colors also affect how they function. Such as the Yellow Kanji of the Bufu's Cleaver, Wooden Mallets, or the Pickaxe denotes that the Rune may break the item. The Sturdy (∞) rune prevents the item from being destroyed by these other Runes.

Rune Kanji Colors

  • Black kana are fixed; more than one of these can be melded to an item, but will not enhance the ability.
  • Blue kana are unique; only one of these can appear on an item.
  • White kana are stackable; by melding more than one of these to an item, the ability will be multiplied.
  • Yellow kana have a chance of destroying the item they're melded to when activated.
