Nob Ogasawara, also known in his alias as Doug Dinsdale, was a freelance translator known for working on numerous popular franchises, ranging from Dragon Quest to Pokémon. It also included a few titles in the Mystery Dungeon series.

Career

The localization for PlayStation World of Dragon Warrior: Torneko: The Last Hope for the United States was harsh, despise the passion of the team, including Ogasawara.[1] In an interview held in 2020, he clarified that the localization team consisted of himself in majority. According to him, the original translation company "made a total mess of things", produced no usable text, and wasted most of the budget and deadline, so he finished the work in three weeks.[2] His editor, and also his kids, helped him during the last days of translating the game after he got injured throughout.

Ogasawara's last contribution was for Yakuza 5, released in 2012 on PlayStation 3. Within the Mystery Dungeon franchise, his last work as a translator was Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness.[3] Although Nob did not contribute to Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, his works was reused as a base, while Eve Eschenbacher translated the new content for the aforementioned game, presumed by the updated staff roll.[4][5]
