Melding (Japanese: 強化合成) in  Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 is mechanic that allows item enchantments to be passed from one Weapon to another weapon or from one Shield to another shield. This mechanic is available in Garaku Studio and Bewitching Dungeon Shop. The melding destroys the equipment used to give an enchantment to another. Melding is unlocked at Garaku Studio after completing the Viridescent Sea. The Meld command makes it possible to enchant one piece of equipment early in the game and transfer it to other equipment when better weapons and shields are unlocked. Meld a weapon or a shield costs money per enchantment bonus depending on the weapon or shield which receives the enchantment.
