Draft:Shiren 5 2020:Pot
This article is a draft relating to |
Pots (Japanese: 壺) are Items in Shiren the Wanderer 5 and 5 Plus. There are thirty-four variants of them in total.
Pots are the only container items in Shiren 5. This item category exists in all Shiren games, but it was often called "Jars" in earlier games. Pots in Shiren 5 can never contain another pot.
There are two types of pots: insert-type pots and open-type pots. You can tell them apart by the "insert" or "open" in the item menu options.
Insert-type pots allow you to insert any non-pot items into them so long as there is still free space. Many insert-type pots either affect the inserted item in some way or destroy it. The common Preservation Pot allows you to store and retrieve items freely without affecting them. For every other insert-type pot, you have to break the pot by throwing it against a wall to get the contents out.
Items cannot be inserted into open-type pots. Instead, something magical is in these pots already, and you can open them to let one of these "unknown" items out. A small number of open-type pots can be refilled under certain circumstances.
Pots have a capacity range of 0-5 spaces, and all newly generated pots have 2-5 spaces. A pot's capacity is always known even if the pot is not identified, and knowing the capacity can help with pot identificaiton. Most pots have a capacity range of either 3 - 5 or 2 - 4. The two exceptions are Synthesis Pots, which always have 5 spaces, and Fever Pots, which always have 3 spaces. A pot's capacity can be increased (up to 5) via a Pot God Scroll and a specific new item bracelet effect. It can be decreased (aside from simply using the pot) by a Gyandora or Gyandoron. (See also Shrinking Fever Pots.)
Pots can be blessed or sealed but not cursed. A blessed pot has a high chance to resist being sealed or turned into an Onigiri by a monster or trap. A sealed pot cannot have items inserted into it, either by the player or by monsters such as Scoopies and Kappas. A sealed pot also loses its normal magic effect, although unbreakable pots will still be unbreakable.

For convenience, the price columns also show the price increase (+5% of base) for each empty space.
