Combat Strategy

Instead of attacking you, a Swordsman family monster will sometimes parry your equipped item and knock it away from you.

  • Swordsman will knock your shield away.
  • Fencer will knock your weapon away.
  • Sensei and Swordmaster can knock your weapon, shield, or bracelet away.

The first three forms, Swordsman, Fencer and Sensei, send your item flying behind you. If the item hits another monster, it will be permanently lost unless it is tagged. (Effect when it hits a shopkeeper / Character / ally?) The same is true if the item falls into water or void. The safest way to fight these monsters is with your back against the wall. Alternatively, make sure there is nothing between you and a wall behind you.

Swordmasters knock your item anywhere up to 10 tiles away. (Can this destroy the item directly?)

An Anti-Parry Bracelet prevents all equipment items from being parried by a Swordsman family monster. Perceptive Pot does the same, but only for the current floor.
