Teams (Japanese: 救助隊) are groups of Pokémon. Teams are typically part of an Organization, some work more directly with their Organization or with a Guild, while others are comparatively independent. Although there are different types of Teams focused on different tasks, Teams may also perform other types of tasks. There are also Teams that are not explicitly specialized on a given type of task. A Team typically has Team Badges for its members.

Names

The founding members of a Team decide the Team name when registering their new Team. The name may be a set of characters, or a word, or multiple words, and the Team is then addressed either as "Team" followed by the chosen words/characters, or "The", followed by the chosen words or characters. While there are no known particular rules for how Teams should be named, there are some patterns that are seen across multiple Team names.

The most common pattern is simply choosing one normal word. Examples include Team Hydro or Team Raider. Another pattern, although seemingly less common, is forming the Team name by choosing the initials of the main three members, as seen with Team A.C.T. and Team AWD.

A common naming pattern that is seen in Japanese is choosing a normal Japanese or English word written in katakana and ending it with the character ズ (zu), which Japanese speakers use to represent the "-s" sound at the end of plural words in English.[1] Examples include Team Meanies (Japanese: イジワルズ), Team Go-Getters (Japanese: ガンバルズ), Team PokéPals (Japanese: ポケダンズ).

Specializations

Apart from the generic Teams that don't seem to focus on a particular task, some Teams fall under different specialization categories.
