Adventures are the part of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity during which most of the gameplay takes place. An Adventure begins when entering a dungeon, and ends when it is left.

Starting an Adventure

An Adventure begins by entering a dungeon. Some floors will have Detours only if the Adventure began from a Job.

Concluding an Adventure

An Adventure ends in either success or failure. Any Adventure can be succeeded by using an Escape Orb, however that may not get the desired result, as it doesn't progress the story or complete the current Job, but simply prevents the player from losing any items. If the Adventure began by entering the dungeon normally (either through the story or from the Crossroads), the player can succeed by reaching the end of the dungeon. If it began by choosing a Job at the Request Counter, the player can succeed by completing the Job, after which it is impossible to progress to the next floor. An Adventure ends in failure if the current leader faints, if the wind blows the party out of the dungeon, or if the player selects "Give Up" in the "Others" menu.

Consequences of failing an Adventure

When failing an Adventure, some items may be lost, depending on the amount of currently carried items. If the dungeon doesn't allow bringing in any items, all items and Poké will be lost.

Trivia

  • Unlike other games, escaping a dungeon with an Escape Orb causes the Adventure Results screen to play the failure jingle instead of the success jingle. This appears to be a Development Oversight.
