This article is a draft relating to Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate (Vita) for the PlayStation Vita. |
When Trapper Armband Mode is in effect, Traps behave very differently. Ordinarily, traps are invisible, they can't be moved, they are triggered by "pressure activation", and they have a high chance to trigger any time Shiren walks on them. In short, they behave much as you'd expect traps in an RPG to behave. However, in this mode:
- Traps are now fully visible, can be picked up, moved, thrown, and otherwise manipulated in inventory.
- Shiren no longer triggers traps by walking on them (but can still trigger them manually by standing on them and using the Feet menu).
- Monsters now trigger traps instead.
In short, Trapper Armband Mode plays radically differently than normal Shiren gameplay.
This mode was introduced in Template:GameTitle, and exists in other Shiren titles.
Entering and Leaving Trapper Armband Mode
Trapper Armband Mode is in effect whenever Shiren has a Blessings, Curses, and Seals Trapper Armband equipped, or any non-sealed Secret Pots and New Items bracelet with the Trapper Runes crafted onto it. Thus, in most dungeons that let you take items in, you can switch between Trapper Armband Mode and normal mode at will by equipping and un-equipping a bracelet with this magic effect on it.
Trapper Armband Mode is also always in effect in both Gen's Turf and Trapper's Sandbox.
Trapper Armbands are rare, but you can get them from the above two dungeons and possibly other locations as well.
Don't mix up the Trapper Armband with the Trap! The former controls this mode, the latter causes more traps to appear over time on the dungeon floor. (It's hard to use a Trap Armband by itself to good effect, but using both Trapper and Trap together could allow you to keep creating more and more traps that you could see and use to your benefit.)

Notes & Research.
- The name "Trapper Armband Mode" is a fan creation. Somebody should go through in-game documentation and in-game info about Gen's Turf and Trapper's Sandbox again to see if there is a more official name for this.
- Traps can be picked up, moved, thrown, and otherwise manipulated in inventory. (but doing so seems to reduce the trap's longevity -- needs more testing)
