Turns 5

Confused (Japanese: 混乱) is a Status Condition in Template:GameTitle. It can both affect Torneko and monsters with different effects.

On Torneko

Effect

The confused status always last 5 turns no matter the source. Its duration can be frozen when under the effect of the Asleep or Paralysed status. The timer will start again when these effects end.

When Confused, some of Torneko's actions are affected:

  • When the player attempts to move, Torneko will move in a random direction, no matter what his original direction was. However the game will not let Torneko make illegal moves. If the random direction chosen would make Torneko move through a wall, the action fails, and the player regains control of Torneko without spending a turn. This is different from how monsters behave when confused, and allows player to counter Giant Eyeballs' Special Ability in hallways.
  • When the player attempts to use a melee attack, Torneko will swing in a random direction, no matter what his original direction was.

Other actions are not affected by the Confused status:

  • When firing arrows, tossing items and waving staves, Torneko will keep his direction.
  • All inventory actions such as using and equipping items are not affected.

How to get affected

  • Consuming a Panic Herb.
  • Being hit by Giant Eyeballs Special Ability.

How to cure

On Monsters

Effect

The confused status always last 5 turns no matter the source. Its duration can be paused when under the effect of the Asleep or Paralyzed status. The timer will start again when these effects stop.

When Confused, monsters' behavior is altered:

  • They will move in random directions instead of targeting Torneko. They can still attack Torneko if he's at melee range and the random movement happens to end up on the tile he's standing on. The game will let monsters' waste their turns doing illegal moves. If a monster attempts to walks through a wall, the action will fail but their turn will still be spent.
  • Monsters cannot use their Special Abilities when confused. They will always attack or, if their Special Ability replaces their normal attack, they will do nothing.

Drakee's variant of the Confused status

Drakee's Special Abilities is to move semi-randomly instead of homing on Torneko like other monsters do. This behavior is very similar to the Confused status, but appears to be less random, as Drakee will never go far from Torneko this way.

How to get affected

  • Throw a Panic Herb at the Monster.

How to cure

  • Override the monster's status with another status : Blind or Terrified.
  • Monsters will get cured of the Confused status after 5 turns.
