Debug Mode is an unused mode in Template:GameTitle. originally used by developers to test things in-game. While in debug mode, if the player heads south of Valley Inn, the Debug Room can be accessed.
Accessing
Changing from FF to 00 the bytes at 8000 and 8001 in a headerless ROM, or 8200 and 8201 in a headered ROM, enables debug mode. It can also be enabled with the Pro Action Replay codes C0800000, C0800100.
Controls
Controller 1
Controls | Action |

B+R+Start | Opens a menu allowing the selection of any item in the game.
Works with the unofficial translation, however most of the text is unreadable. |
Y+R+Start | Turns off the background music. The only way to turn it back on is to reset. |
B+Y+R+Start | Opens a sound test menu. |
Controller 2
Controls | Action |

Items | |
---|---|
Herbs | Weapons |

Staves | Bracers |
Pots | Arrows |

The Weapons sub-menu allows selecting the upgrade/downgrade value after the item is selected. The +/- toggle makes the item cursed if set to minus. | |||||||||||||||
The Shields sub-menu allows selecting the upgrade/downgrade value after the item is selected. The +/- toggle makes the item cursed if set to minus. | |||||||||||||||
The Staves sub-menu allows selecting the amount of uses after the item is selected. The +/- toggle reverses the amount and makes the item cursed if set to minus. |
|||||||||||||||
The Pots sub-menu allows selecting the amount of uses after the item is selected. The +/- toggle reverses the amount and makes the item cursed if set to minus, using it causes a glitched effect and makes the game unplayable. |
The Arrows sub-menu allows selecting the amount after the item is selected. The +/- toggle makes the item cursed if set to minus. | ||||||||||||||
|
All the options in this menu lead to a sub-menu to select monster meat and monster level, however only the first option is for monster meat. The others give goal items that end the Adventure and glitch items. |
