Curses (Japanese: ???) are an Item-based gameplay element in Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS2 - Magic Castle of the Desert. Items may be cursed by the Curse Girl Family or the Cursed Jar. If an item is cursed, it will have a skull icon next to it and the item name will be in red.

Cursed Item Effects

Item Category Effect
Armbands It will retain its special abilities (good and bad), but it can't be unequipped.
Gitan Always does 2 damage when thrown.
Herbs They can't be eaten, if thrown, they will only do 2 damage to monsters.
Jars Items can't be inserted or removed from them. The special properties of the Jar will not work while cursed. Example: Strengthening Jars will not increase the values of the items contained within.
Monster Meat It can't be eaten. If thrown at monsters, they will always deal 2 damage.
Projectiles They can't be used or unequipped. If the player picks up normal arrows of the same type, they will remove the curse status.
Riceballs They can't be eaten. If thrown, they will always do 2 damage to monsters.
Scrolls They can't be read. Sanctuary Scrolls won't work if placed on the ground. If thrown, they will always deal 2 damage to monsters.
