Pressing B + R + Start on controller 1 opens a menu to add any item to the inventory. The tables in this section follow the same layout as the game, which can be helpful with identifying the Japanese names, or when using the {{Community|Shiren 1 SFC English Unofficial Translation}}, where the text of these menus isn't displayed properly.
* Shift (held) makes the screen black.
* X: Displays Shiren's coordinates.

Debug Mode is an unused mode in Super Famicom Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer originally used by developers to test things in-game. While in debug mode, if the player heads south of Canyon Hamlet, the Debug Room can be accessed.

Accessing

Changing from FF to 00 the bytes at 8000 and 8001 in a headerless ROM, or 8200 and 8201 in a headered ROM, enables debug mode. It can also be enabled with the Pro Action Replay codes C0800000, C0800100.
