Well, the game is going to be released tomorrow, but you can get it now by "unofficial" sources. As I'm going to have the original game, just in a few weeks, I'm going to download the game and play it until it arrives from play-asia, and play through emulator until then.
This thread is to comment about this game!!

Then PREPARE TO DO BATTLE, Mr. Gabikun!
I will try not to lean on you too heavily, but until a more fleshed out Japanese item FAQ is out there I might need to pester you on quest specifics and the like.
"So what was it the village elder expects me to do in that first quest?" and stuff like that. ;-P

Oh look another one. Guess we won't be getting this one in english either. Well one can always hope. If time allows it i'll try my luck and the japanese rom. Haven't done that since Pokemon Gold for GBC :)

Is someone going to start a wiki for this one? I'm having trouble finding anything on this site. Looking forward to doing rescues (er.. being rescued) again hahaha.

Well, my first impressions about this game are very positive. It's like the first Shiren, a big main dungeon with some villages between floors, and, when you die, you return back to level 1 at the first village. I've reached the 18th floor by now. Armbands won't break again, like in the first Shiren DS (good point, as it was annoying)
There are puzzles like the 1st shiren DS ones in that first village, but I've done all of them and hadn't any trouble. They are a good start point for beginners, and there are some puzzles that must be done to know some new aspects of the game.
Shiren restores his HP faster at low levels, but when you have more HP, it returns as fast as before.
You find people when you are in the dungeons, some of them will ask you for something and give you something in return. Once I found a guy that asked for a weapon. I gave to him a Cyclops Killer, and he told me to search for him in the next adventure. He gave me the same weapon with +5 in the next run. The wandering blacksmith is again there, asking to raise a weapon for 1000 gitan. And there is a little child that asks for a lighter at night, but I hadn't any remaining by then.
New scrolls: there is one that lets you change day/night time as you wish (useful when you are trapped by night monsters and you have not any skills left). There is also one that erases the monster aura if that monster is in front of you.
About the sparkling floors: sometimes there are sparkling tiles in the floor. Those sparkling tiles have always items buried in them, but you need to eat a specific herb to be able to take those buried items.
There are some things, but I'm waiting to get more into the game. Overall I'm not disappointed with it.

Yeah! So is it safe to assume that if familiar with the series and have easy access to at least a good Shiren DS 2 translation FAQ I'll probably be able to fake my way?

Whoa nelly! This incarnation is rocking HARD!
Sure I still don't know what ANYBODY is saying in the game but using the techniques that let me stumble through the Shiren 1 and 2 imports are holding up fine so far.
One cool tweak I noticed in the main dungeon is with the Blank Scrolls. These were ALWAYS a huge pain or me in the imports as I have no idea how any of these scroll names were spelled. Well now when you decide to write on a blank scroll it instantly pops up with a list of all scrolls you've discovered so far, you just need to choose one!
I'm loving so far the even in this first dungeon it feels like I have access to at least ALMOST all of the items! God how tedious I'm finding the story dungeons in Shiren Wii with their tight little item lists (you can find any one of these 4 items in this dungeon)!
I'm also impressing myself that even without resorting to any sort of Item FAQ I remember the names of 75% or more of these things. Like ohh yeah, that's an Eye Poker weapon, and ohh, look, it's an herb of Stomach Dilation!
Watch out, Gabikun, I'm hot on your trail!

Yeah!! I love this incarnation too!!
I think you were playing the wii version a lot of time (because you got used to that limited ammount of items), but I have to say something here: the first runs I had, I only found weak weapons and some special weapons, until I reached the 17th floor (there is a history scene there the first time). From then, I'm finding strong weapons (12 attack and more!!)
New people I found: a wandering shopkeeper!! Yes, he is wandering in the dungeons and he has some items to sell. Unfortunately, as it's menu based, you can't steal them as normal shops.
And now, the feature to save the weapon/shield if you die. In the second town, you can speak to a guy in the southern house and sign a weapon or shield (or both, if you have much money) paying 3.000 gitan for each item. When you die, in future runs, you can come back to see if they have delivered back to him, and he will return back as it was when you died (even if you meld it after signing and it leveled up to a stronger form!). Not only that, when you die with a signed weapon/shield, there is a guy wandering in the next runs that will deliver those items to you if you have space for them.

In my first run up to the second town I met both the mobile blacksmith and some other guy that wanted me to pick some item from my pack for something. I'm assuming it is the big enchanter guy and gave him one of my weapons. Could he have been asking me for something else? I'm pretty sure he took the weapon so I hope I guessed right.

I've found that the jars that let you send items back to the first village are more common (or maybe I was just unlucky for the past games). Do weapons and armor that are sent back stay tagged? I also noticed that special weapons are a lot less rare.

I've already found some 3 Jars of Change on my first 5 levels or so! If I know my symbols right in one of them I've managed to get some pretty awesome armor (haven't cracked it open yet to be sure)!
