please share some of your most memorable dying experiences.

I was on a higher level dundgeon and encountered a monster house. I used a death angel meat and was trying to destory the whole floor by being inside the wall, but was chased by two death angle into the wall instead. I revert back into original form, and found out nothing works inside the wall (swinging bufu's staff is useless, can't damage the death angel). So i died inside the wall.

Going down the stairs and being shoved into a giant monster house. Since this roguelike does not have anything regarding teleportation, you're pretty screwed unless you're beefy enough.

Dropping the DS or letting it run out of charge in your backpack. Metadeath is much worse than game death.

Not a stupid death, just a stupid thing to have done:

"Kabra Reborn +40 put into Jar of Change [3]"

I decided to make my way to the final boss after upgrading my Mastersword and my Armor Ward/Hide Shield combo to a rather high level (50+). I made it all the way to the Trial of Phantoms/Dragoncry Trials floor (can't remember which). Anyway, I'm up against a Death Angel when it turns me into a stupid riceball. Needless to say, I died and lost my strong sword and armor.

The same (riceball) thing happened to me (Don Jonker - need to get an account on this site) as of five minutes ago. I had about 30 things melded onto my weapon and armor, which I typically never do. I'd made it near through TM starting w/ just a riceball, so I figured it'd be a milk run. Common wisdom on Angband sites says every time you post something about your game, you die. Seems to operate here whenever I put something on gamefaqs.

Hi Don, nice to see you made it here :)

Although I never played it, I think Shiren is a lot like Frog Knows when it comes to getting killed. Even with almost the best equipment there are some situations that can and will kill you, and riceballed by mages is a big part of it.
Even though there is a shield to block mage rice spells, those won't block riceball traps. That said, once you have the best equip you usually also have a revival herb or two to keep the equip even during the bad luck parts.
