The information on IDing here would be invaluable for the Final Puzzle page, but I dislike redundancy. Perhaps we could spin it off into a separate page on IDing in general, and link both this page and Final Puzzle to there?

Yeah, I think we can put the page under Strategy. I put some information on idenfitying Jars (I think at the same time you were doing yours :P) under Tips and Tricks, but we should probably have a separate page since it is probably going to be long.

I cribbed together some notes on a jar ID algorithm from scratch to get me through the Final Puzzle:

Insert a weapon: if anything strange happens, easy identify
Else go down one floor: Strengthening/Weakening
Else insert unidentified weapon: Identify
Else insert a second weapon: Melding
Else throw and see what happens

That should take care of most of the cases.

The difficulty in whether to put in an ID'd or non-ID'd item depends on whether the jar is an Identifying jar. The problem is that the jar is quite valuable, but if you put in an ID'd item, you won't know what it is even if you break it. Same thing with the strengthening jar -- if you put an unID'd staff or weapon/armor into it, you won't know the result of that until you extract the item and ID it. I'm still kind of figuring out what the best strategy is.
