If shiren gets hit by a magic spell of a Bufu Staff, he will turn into a riceball. Is he than a riceball like by a ricetrap or is he a"real" riceball, which means that you are K.O?

Well Shiren can still move and he is still a yellow icon meaning he is not an item so
he is like a new riceball the Shiren riceball
But when you are in this form you cannot use items, cannot attack, and die if you step on a rotten riceball trap

Naoki will continue to give the player a Bufu's Staff [0] until they finish his quest. While they can't be Fused together, they can be inserted into a Strenghtening Jar to increase their value, if you're not that good at Kitchen God. It may be worth stockpiling a jar or two in this case.
