Draft:Shiren 5 Vita:Crafting
This article is a draft relating to Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate (Vita) for the PlayStation Vita. |
Item Crafting
The term "crafting" is not used in the game itself. It is used here as a general term for all means of creating and improving items.
Tips and tricks related to Shiren 1 crafting may still work in Shiren 5, though many terms were updated or at least localized differently in Shiren 5 as compared to older games in the series. E.g. Shiren 1's Melding Jar (which people occasionally referred to as a "melting jar") is virtually the same thing as Shiren 5's Synthesis Pot.
The crafting model in Shiren 5 is probably the most complex of any Shiren game, though not as complex as craft-heavy games. In any case, this section has been broken up into the following sub-sections. If you're new to crafting in Shiren 5, it is recommended to read the sub-pages in this order. Else, if you know what you're doing already, jump to the section you're interested in.
Learning to Craft
These topics explain how to craft:
- Improving Existing Items -- All the ways to improve stock items. This is almost exclusively about swords and shields, but there's a tiny bit about staves too.
- Creating Better Items -- How to craft new base items, which can then also be improved via methods in the above topic. This applies to many types of items.
- Mass Production -- If you want to do loads of crafting, you'll need loads of source materials. This topic covers how to efficiently gather them.
- Fever Pots -- Everything you should know about this key item.
- Level 8 Equipment Easy Trick -- An especially useful trick for leveling up your swords and shields quickly, easily, and in bulk.
More on Crafting
These are topics under the Gameplay Elements section that you may want to refer to later once you know how to craft:
- Runes -- A reference list of all runes available in the game and the materials needed to craft them.
- Secret Pots and New Items -- A reference list of all secret pot / new item effects available in the game.
- Magic Effects Model -- This topic explains the magic effects model in Shiren 5, which is not immediately obvious nor is it spelled out anywhere in the game. For folks who want to understand the arcane details of exactly how the Shiren 5 magic effects model works, here they are. This topic is likely too abstract for most gamers, but may be useful if you want to do hardcore crafting.
