Draft:Shiren 5 Vita:Level 8 Equipment Easy Trick

How to level your weapons/shields to level 8 (thanks to Gabikun on gamefaqs.com!)

You need:

• To have read the Extraction Scroll and the Gambler's Scroll (to write them on blank scrolls)
• A Blessing Pot, maximized to 5 capacity
• A way to escape the dungeon
• 2 or 3 Preservation Pots filled with Blank Scrolls
• At least one sword or shield you want to level up (and it's better to do many all at once)

Using the Gamblers Scroll

When you read a Gambler's Scroll, it will do 1 of 7 things, chosen at random:

• Level you up by 10 levels.
• Level all swords and shields in your main inventory up by 1 level.
• Make one type of monster on the current floor (and that entire monster family) extinct for the rest of that run.
  • Note: There can be only one extinct monster family at a time, so if you extinct a 2nd monster family via the Gambler's Scroll or Extinction Scroll, the 1st monster family can re-appear.
• Explode, leaving you with 1 HP or killing you if you were at 1 HP.
  • Note: This is equivalent to a Traps. Certain shields and runes can reduce or eliminate this damage.
• Haste all monsters on the floor.
• Take all your Gitans on hand, leaving you penniless.
• Teleport you ahead 5 floors.

Process

The idea is to get as many Blank Scrolls as you can from the points shop, name 5 of them Gambler's, and put those into the Blessing Pot. (You can do this in the storage room in Nekomaneki Village.) Also fill 2-3 Preservation Pots with more Blank Scrolls. Yes, this trick can be expensive, but if you have access to the Lost Well bonus dungeon, you can fill up your points card pretty easily.

Fill the rest of your inventory with all the swords and shields you want to level up to max.

Go to floor 5 of the main dungeon (just one floor before the Tower of Fortune Entrance, where you meet Tao). Search for a good place—a place where you can see monsters coming from afar, and where there are no nasty traps in the area.

Name the Blank Scrolls "Extraction" (one at a time) and use them to bring all the blessed Gambler's Scrolls out of the Blessing Pot. Then use each Gambler's Scroll once (which consumes the blessing but not the scroll) and put it back into the Blessing Pot. Repeat until your swords/shields are level 8 or until you reach level 99, whichever you're interested in. (You learn a night ability by reaching level 99.) When you're satisfied, escape the dungeon.

You don't need to worry about being teleported ahead 5 floors because the Tower of Fortune Entrance blocks that power. For the explosion effect, make sure you don't read a Gambler's Scroll when there are items on the ground around you or they will be destroyed. Also make sure to either reduce or eliminate explosion damage by equipping the right shield or a shield with the right rune, or, just be careful not to die from explosions / monsters. (Don't read a Gambler's Scroll when you have 1 HP.) Beware of hasted monsters. And don't bring a lot of Gitans on this run because you will eventually hit the penniless effect and have them all taken away.

This trick is way, way faster than leveling up items via usage, and, you can use it to level up many swords/shields to maximum at all once. Using the Gambler's Scroll is the only realistic way to get some items to level 8 (e.g. Glass Dirk, Glass Buckler), so if you want those items at level 8, you might as well do it all at once with this trick under controlled circumstances.
