Bracelets (Japanese: 腕輪) are equipable items that appears in Shiren the Wanderer 5 and 5 Plus. There are thirty-four variants of them in total. This item category exists in all Shiren games, but it was often called "Bracelets" in earlier games. Prior game "equivalent" items are virtually identical, but they may or may not behave identically in Shiren 5 as they did in prior games in the series.
Usage
Bracelets are durable items that have an ongoing magic effect while equipped. The magic effect is sometimes subtle, making bracelets some of the hardest items to identify in Shiren 5. You can only have one bracelet equipped at a time unless you have a certain sword and shield combination equipped that resonate to allow you to equip a second bracelet. When you have two bracelets equipped and you're forced to remove one (e.g. because you've changed your other equipment breaking the resonance), the 2nd bracelet equipped is unequipped unless [bracelet 2 is cursed and bracelet 1 is not] in which case the 1st bracelet equipped is unequipped. (It is not yet known/documented what happens if you have two cursed bracelets equipped then break the resonance. Presumably, the 2nd bracelet equipped would be removed.) Sorting your inventory sorts the 1st equipped bracelet ahead of the 2nd equipped bracelet. Bracelets can also be sealed, in which case they can be equipped and unequipped at will but have no magic effect. Bracelets can be blessed as well. There is no known improvement to the magic effect of a bracelet when it is blessed, but blessings definitely help safeguard bracelets against some problems such as being cursed by a monster or trap. (This lack of improvement is so unusual compared to every other category of item that it might be worth additional research. Perhaps some new item bracelet effects get improved?)
Shiren 5's' New Items system is a great way to make better items over and above the stock items in the game. It is particularly worthwhile to craft new item bracelets, in part because new item bracelets can have up to 4 great effects in a single bracelet rather than just 1, and in part, because there are some great effects that can be added to new item bracelets which can't be obtained in any other way in the game.
