One branch of the Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki's Tree of Information.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (Japanese: ポケモン不思議のダンジョン) is the third series in the Mystery Dungeon franchise, beginning in 2005 as a spin-off of the Pokémon franchise with the release of Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team. The series takes place in a fictional setting, disconnected from the mainline Pokémon franchise. The stories are usually centered around a Human Hero turned into a Pokémon, and their Partner. Some heroes canonically have multiple partners as well.

Gameplay
Much like the other Mystery Dungeon series, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series consists of video games in which the player explores dungeons consisting of randomly generated or randomly selected grid floors, with turn based gameplay. The playable character is usually an unnamed hero followed by p partner, who typically use moves to attack Monsters, increases their stats, and uses a variety of other items, such as Wonder Orbs and Staves, to aid exploration, combat, or escape from dangerous situations. Such items are usually found on the ground and put in the player's inventory, where they can be managed, sorted, or identified to understand their usage and purpose. As it is regarded as the easier branch of the franchise, the inventory space, while larger, remains limited; inventory management is an important part of the game. Players decide which items they should keep or discard, and when it is best to use them.
