Plot
A human turned Chimchar washes up on a beach and is discovered by a Turtwig. They form an Exploration Team called Team Poképals after joining Wigglytuff's Guild.
Team Poképals head out on their first mission, fight a couple of Wurmple, and pluck a bunch of Oran Berries. They spot a blue treasure chest, but they're confronted by Team AWD, who battle them over the chest. Lady Weavile claims to get an ominous feeling and leaves, leaving the loot to Team Poképals. After bringing the loot back to the Guild, Team Poképals are ripped off but are overall happy with the success of their first mission.
As Chimchar is having trouble sleeping during a stormy night, they get a flashback. They're comforted by Turtwig and drift off to sleep. Meanwhile, Grovyle is stealing his first Time Gear.

- Despite claiming to be a human, Chimchar is referred to by his Pokémon species and not by his human name.
- Turtwig never once asks for Chimchar's name and he's only referred to as Chimchar and Hero throughout.
- Team Poképals is a Normal Rank team. Oran Forest isn't unlocked in the games until the player's team reaches the Bronze Rank.
