Tengu (Japanese: 大天狗) Is the fifth boss fight in the game. He is the last of the four guardians of Hourai, and while not explicitly stated, he is implied to be the groups leader. At the very least, he is the most powerful of the four. Tengu has a dutiful personality. He is straight forward when it comes to explaining what he knows to Shiren and only wishes to abide by the wishes of his master, the Princess Kaguya. He is also extremely strict. Besides Centipede who dies at the hands of Shiren, Tengu personally killed Eagle (Johnny) and Catfish himself. Deeming them as pathetic peons unworthy of their guardian title for their failure to stop Shiren.

Strategy

Tengu will often start things off by gesturing defiantly as the game calls it, which raises his attack power. At a distance, he has a ranged attack called Sand Curtain which has a chance to blind you. This is only a minor nuisance, especially if he only blinds one of your characters. Tengu's basic attack can be very damaging to you at this point. It is important to note that his basic attack hits the 3 spaces in front of Tengu, and will hit both of your characters if they are in range. Tengu can also choose to do a knock back move that will push your character away and then have them stumble, dropping their equipped weapon which can be annoying. That about summarizes his tricks however. Tengu is susceptible to your Projectiles, so the general strategy for this fight is to have your tank be up front to take the hits, with your non tank to support by healing when necessary and attacking with those arrows and rocks. Make sure you have a lot of healing items on hand as usual and a decent Shields on, or two decent Weapons if you want to go with the offensive approach. Tengu really is not that difficult to overcome.
