Jurouta (Japanese: 十狼太) and the Hyottoko Thugs (Japanese: ひょっとこ党) are the fourteenth boss in the game. Upon reaching a dead end and meeting with Shiren and Asuka who caught up to him, Jurouta decides to inform them of his heritage and why he is invested in the Karakuri Mansion currently. He is laying a claim to all of the mansions treasures and the Princess Kaguya herself as he is a descendant of the at the time provincial governor for the area 1,000 years in the past. He is of the same clan and therefor in his mind, the rightful inheritor/owner of the property. He then decides to fight Shiren to earn his claim and determine who has the right to loot the mansion and call themselves the masters of Karakuri Mansion.
For this fight you can either ignore the Hyottoko Thugs entirely and go after Jurouta first using offensive tactics to quickly take him out, or you can position yourself so that one of your characters lures Jurouta away from his thugs and you can focus them down first. If you have a lot of useful herbs such as Hercules Herb, Haste Herb, or even Dragon Herb then you can make quick work of Jurouta, but the approach is up to you. Remember that all of these enemies have the boss attribute and are therefor immune to your status effects.
Jurouta himself still has access to Kiai Kick from the first time you fought him, where he will revive to full one of his downed thugs, which is why you will want to consider keeping him away from any thugs you intend to defeat. He can also use brandish which will inflict knock back the hit character. You can use downed thugs at your back to mitigate the nuisance of being knocked back. Otherwise, he will only do moderate damage to you with basic attacks, making him a relatively simple boss.
The Hyottoko Thugs can hurl a Pot of Oil at your characters. It will do minimum damage to you, but then breaks open and causes the 9 spaces on and around your character to turn into oil tiles. It is currently unclear what these tiles do, though it is very likely that they boost the damage done by fire attacks. This can possibly be utilized to your benefit if you have a Dragon Herb on hand, you can lure Jurouta onto an oil tile and then use the Dragon Herb on Jurouta to hypothetically increase its damage. Other than that, the effect seems mostly pointless as it does not seem to affect you.The thugs can also use a deadly kiss to cause the Paranoia status effect on you. This status effect makes it so that anytime you perform any action, attacking or throwing an Item or using a Staff, etc. You will turn around and perform the action in the opposite direction instead. This status is easily played around and should be mostly inconsequential to you, just make sure you face away from where you are aiming and it should be a non issue. Pay attention to the status effect being over your characters head. Other than these two things, the thugs are fairly weak themselves, thus you can mostly ignore them and just focus on Jurouta.
