Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Inspiration and References are noticeable in Nintendo Switch/Steam Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island.

Gameplay

Story

  • Dialogue during the Kokatsu Story Arc is similar to dialogue in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.
Before entering the Dune of Batsu, Koppa's dialogue in Japanese is nearly word for word the same as the Partner's before entering Quicksand Cave in Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness and Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky.[1]

Music

  • Although not necessarily a direct reference, Shiren 6 is the first Shiren game where the soundtrack is composed by Keisuke Ito, the main composer of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series starting with Explorers of Time and Darkness.
    • noisycroak also worked on the game's sound effects. Hideki Sakamoto is credited as sound supervisor.[2]
