Is it canon to the Shiren the Wanderer series?
While the Dragon Quest Mystery Dungeon games are canon to the mainline Dragon Quest series; the Torneko trilogy to Dragon Quest IV and Young Yangus to Dragon Quest VIII, there have been a few references and cameos between this and the Shiren the Wanderer series. For example, Gaibara and Saruyama appear in Torneko: The Last Hope, or the second game in the Mystery Dungeon franchise barring the number "2" in its title, serving as an indirect sequel of Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon. Additionally, in Template:GameTitle, Dan references Torneko and Paulo.
