Effect on Shiren
When confused, yellow birds will appear and circle Shiren's head. If you attempt to move or attack while Confused, you will have no control over the direction it occurs in. However, items such as Staves and Arrows will still shoot in the direction you are facing, so it is possible to continue combat using these items while confused by turning Shiren to face the direction of the enemies.
How to get affected
- Trigger a Spinning Trap
- Get hit by the magic staff attack of a Skull Wizard or Skull Wraith with confusion effect.
- Get hit by the magic of a Skull Staff that reflects from a Air Devil Family Monster that has the confusion effect.
- Eat a Rotten Riceball that gives the confused effect.
How to cure
- Wait 6-10 turns for the effect to wear off.
- Eat a Restorative Herb.
- Move to a different floor via the stairs or a Pitfall Trap.
- Transform into a Monster by consuming Monster Meat or be transformed by a magic attack from a Skull Mage Family Monster.

Trivia
- It's a common trope in cartoons for stars or birds to appear around a character's head after taking a rough blow.
