The Top Menu (Japanese: トップメニュ, Top Menu) is the first menu the player sees every time Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon
is launched. The Top Menu opens right after the title screen.
Display
On the screen, three features are shown when playing the game for the first time, then five more later on:
- Continue: Allows you to continue from where you left off. The second you turn off the game, the game will automatically save the game from the exact place you were in. This means that you can save in the middle of a dungeon by pressing "End" in the dungeon menu.
- Begin Game: Starts a new game in a save file. You can have up to three save files.
- Copy Game: Copies an existing game file on another.
- Erase Game: Erases an existing game file.
- Rename Village: Allows you to rename a village contained in a game file.
- High Scores: Allows you to see the top ten high scores. High scores are achieved by either dying in a dungeon or leaving one.
- Replay: Allows you to see what you've previously done on the most recent floor. This only works in dungeons, if outside of a dungeon, it still replays the most recent floor.
- Sound: Allows you to adjust the sound setting between Stereo and Mono.
Icons
Top Menu icons are small pictures that appear when certain goals are met to track the player's progress. They are displayed in the continue confirmation screen showing the current progress.

Background Art
Unlike other Mystery Dungeon games, there is only one background available for this game. It shows various sprites of Torneko.
Background Music
This menu plays the track known as "Treasure Hunt" in the Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon Soundtrack. It is composed by Koichi Sugiyama. The music uses the leitmotiv from another music heard in the game, "Torneko's Theme".
Trivia
- "Torneko's Theme" and its variations are heard for the first time in a spin-off game after a mainline Dragon Quest game, being Dragon Quest IV in 1990.
