This Monster page is about monsters in Super Famicom Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon(UT) - This is an unofficial translation. for Super Famicom. For the monsters lore page, see Dragon Quest:Monster.

Monsters (Japanese: モンスター) are creatures found in dungeons. They are almost all hostile and will attack Torneko on sight, with few exceptions.

For a full list of monsters, organized alphabetically, see: List of Monsters.

Spawning

Each new floor on a dungeon starts with 5 - 7 monsters. This doesn't include monsters spawned in Monster Houses. A new monster will be spawned every 64 turns[1] up to a maximum of 19 monsters at once. Mimic that haven't revealed themselves aren't counted and will disappear if the maximum number is reached. Monsters can't be farmed indefinitely for experience as Torneko will be forced to the next floor by an Earthquake after a specific number of turns.

Combat

Monsters can attack Torneko when standing on a tile adjacent to him to deal damage. The damage they deal depends on the monster and Torneko's stats. In addition to their regular attack, many monsters have Special Abilities that make them harder to defeat. These abilities are either passive effect or special attack the monster may use as a replacement for their regular attack. For some monsters, these special attacks completely replace their regular attacks.

Special Abilities

Item drop

Monsters may spawn with an item that they will then drop when defeated. The probabilities of spawning with an item are specific to each monster types. Some monsters such as Demonites will always spawn with an item. Monsters can also acquire item by stealing it from Torneko, such as Trick Bags stealing half your gold.
