Froggo's Fury is a bonus dungeon in Shiren 5 focused on the Dirk of Debts and the Pauper's Plank. (Because let's face it: if this dungeon didn't exist, you might never try them out!) You can't take items, Gitan, or allies into the dungeon, but you can request rescue up to 3 times and you do keep any items you have on hand if you win. The dungeon is daytime only and the initial goal floor is 29 F. After beating the dungeon for the first time, the goal floor becomes 50 F and stays at 50 F permanently.

Unique Features
* Item distribution is very different from Tower of Fortune or other more "normal" dungeons. Here are some of the ways:
** All weapons are Dirk of Debts. All armors are Pauper's Plank.
** The only pots are Sale Pots and Preservation Pots
*** Only Sale Pots can be pre-placed on the floor.
** Other item types such as grasses, scrolls, and talismans may also draw from a smaller pool than normal but it's less obvious if this is true
***Heal Grasses seem to be abundant
** Expensive but bad bracelets seem more common than usual
*** E.g. I found 2 Inacc. Bracelets on 1F in my first run
** I never saw a new item in this dungeon so I assume they cannot appear here.
* All items except swords and shields start out identified
* Shops are more common than usual—about as common as they are in Merchant's Hideout
** Rough estimate is about 1 shop of some kind every 5 floors
** Pick-A-Choice shops are way more common than usual. I averaged finding 1 about every 10 floors across ~100 floors of play.
** Elite / secret / VIP shops can also appear
* Difficulty ramp is slower than usual
*Froggo family monsters appear often

Every time you beat the dungeon, you are given a Frangible Edge, the ultimate form of Glass Dirk. Frangible Edge has the highest base power value of any sword in the game, but it has a chance of breaking every time it is used, making it near useless. Note that getting Frangible Edge as a reward does not give you the level 1 thru 7 forms of Glass Dirk in your Item Book. If you want to unlock those entries, see Level 8 Equipment Easy Trick. Alternatively, you can use an Upgrade Pot to rank up a Glass Dirk, and a Degrade Pot to rank down a Frangible Edge. (I thought Upgrade / Degrade only gave you upgrade points i.e. the + value, and not experience level? If this is the case, delete this last part.)

Farming Opportunities
Unique Features
If by chance the item you want is Dirks of Debt, Pauper's Plank, or Sale Pot, you've come to the right place. Otherwise, this isn't a great place to try to farm because (a) the item variety is lower than usual so there's less stuff to try to get and (b) it's harder to find ways to escape out of the dungeon, so you may be forced to try to win the run in order to farm things out (but beating this bonus dungeon is easier than beating most other bonus dungeons). Gitan is not as tight here as the description leads you to believe, but other locations (e.g. Merchant's Hideout) are much better for farming Gitan.

The closest thing to a farming opportunity might be the fact that shops of all types are much more common here than in most dungeons. You won't have access to the items that let you maximize Pick-A-Choice shops (Collection Scrolls, Blank Scrolls, and Blessing Pot), so at most you'd be able to get a few items out of these shop. My working theory is that Pick-A-Choice shops draw from the same pool of items as VIP shops, and VIP shops also appear more commonly than usual, so at least you could shop at VIP shops more easily here than in most dungeons. But again, item variety isn't great. Across ~100 floors of gameplay, I found 1 Angel Seed, 2 catstones, and nothing else of note.
* All weapons are Dirk of Debts. All armors are Pauper's Plank.
* The only pots are Sale Pots and Preservation Pots.

* Shops are more common than usual - about as common as they are in Merchant's Hideout

Contrary to the dungeon hint "Gitan will be tight", you are unlikely to run out of Gitan in this dungeon. My normal technique is to explore every room and get every pre-placed item possible, then leave the floor as quickly as I can. After clearing the floor, instead of using the normal stairs, I would play the Pick-A-Choice shop as often as I could until I fell. I occasionally buy items out of normal and VIP shops. All this being said, I was never in danger with money.

You will end up with a lot of extra Dirks of Debt and Pauper's Planks. There is little oppotunity to use these extra equipment besides selling them - there are no Synthesis Pots, and Mixer monsters only appear on 30F and 50F. If you are doing the shorter version with a 30F goal, you can simply sell all Dirks and Planks besides you main ones. If you are doing the longer version, price identify them at a shop (or just equip them and hope they aren't cursed), keep the ones with good upgrade value, and sell the rest. (Dirk of Debt has a base sell price of 1,050, Pauper's Plank has a base sell price of 875.) Once you arrive at the floor with the Mixers (30F?), take your time and merge all your weapons and shields together. Use up all the grasses you've saved up to this point, and turn them into runes. Note that Herb, Otogiriso, Heal Grass and Life Grass all make different runes, and they can go on both your sword and your shield. Higher max HP does decrease your HP regeneration rate, so it is debatable whether it is worth it to turn a Heal Grass into a Vitalizing rune (+15 max HP).

Froggo's Fury has a small item pool, so it is not a good place to farm items, unless you are looking for Dirks of Debt, Pauper's Planks, or Sale Pots.

Sale Pots are very abundant in this dungeon. Aside from extra Dirks and Planks, you will also find lots of mediocre and bad bracelets to sell. Stacks of talismans can sell for a lot, but they are useful consumables. Staves that have run out are also good items to sell. Of course, there is no reason to use Sale Pots on a floor with a shop, and you will often end up with so many Sale Pots that you have to sell them at a shop. Note that selling a Sale Pot at a shop doesn't give you the value of the Gitan inside. Sale Pot also won't turn sealed Gitan into unsealed Gitan.

The first 2-3 floors are pretty easy, even if you are empty-handed. If you can afford to, delay equipping Dirk of Debts or Pauper's Plank until you have both items. The resonance effect causes monsters to drop Gitan more frequently, which helps sustaining this equipment. Each time you attack with Dirk of Debts or block with Pauper's Plank, you lose 30 Gitan times the item's level, but the resonance effect is more than enough to cover this cost. You can also walk on top of Gitan bags without picking them up, then swap items with an item in your inventory to put the Gitan bag into your inventory. (Just don't auto-sort your inventory or those Gitan bags will be put into your wallet.) This lets you hide all the money you find on early floors inside your inventory, which means Froggos can't steal it or teleport. (This also lets you use Gitan bags as projectiles, but they heal rather than damage Froggos. (Confirm?))

I haven't found a Bunch Bracelet in this dungeon yet. If you find one, this dungeon would be an excellent place to try using it. The Bunch Bracelet increases the attack power of your equipped sword for every other sword of the same type you have in main inventory. (delete this if Bunch Bracelet does not appear in the dungeon)

Try to kill all Froggo monsters without giving them any chance to steal Gitan from you. You can stop them with Sleep Talismans, Slow Talismans, Seal Staves, Paralysis Staves, etc. Froggos seem to have about a 1/3rd chance of stealing your Gitans on any given turn, so fighting them hand-to-hand isn't the worst idea. (As usual, make sure you get the first hit on them.) If you are "licked", you lose Gitan, and you lose the opportunity to gain Gitan from that monster. You can chase them down to get your stolen Gitan back, but it costs a lot of time / food meter and lets more monsters spawn. Once they steal your Gitan, they cannot steal your Gitan or teleport again, and you can safely approach them.

It might be worth it to carry sealed Gitan bags to see if you can ever unseal them, assuming you have the inventory space for them. Note that sealed Gitan bags only do 2 HP of damage so they don't make good projectiles.

Farming Opportunities

Froggo's Fury has a small item pool, so it is not a good place to farm items, unless you are looking for Dirks of Debt, Pauper's Planks, or Sale Pots.

Strategy

Contrary to the dungeon hint "Gitan will be tight", you are unlikely to run out of Gitan in this dungeon.

You will end up with a lot of extra Dirks of Debt and Pauper's Planks. There is little opportunity to use these extra equipment besides selling them - there are no Synthesis Pots, and Mixers only appear on 30F and 50F. If you are doing the shorter version with a 30F goal, you can simply sell all Dirks and Planks besides you main ones. If you are doing the longer version, price check them at a shop to know their upgrade value (Dirk of Debt base sell 1,050, Pauper's Plank base sell 875), keep the ones with good upgrade values, and sell the rest. Once you arrive at 30F, take your time and use the Mixers to merge all your weapons and shields together. Use up all the grasses you have saved up to this point, and turn them into Runes. Note that Herb, Otogiriso, Heal Grass and Life Grass all make different runes, and they can go on both your sword and your shield. Higher max HP does decrease your HP regeneration rate, so it is debatable whether you should turn a Heal Grass into a Vitalizing rune (+15 max HP).

Sale Pots are very abundant in this dungeon. Aside from extra Dirks and Planks, you will also find lots of mediocre and bad bracelets to sell. Stacks of talismans can sell for a lot, but they are useful projectiles. Staves that have run out are also good items to sell. Of course, there is no reason to use Sale Pots on a floor with a shop, and you will often end up with so many Sale Pots that you have to sell them at a shop. Note that selling a Sale Pot at a shop does not give you the value of the Gitan inside. Sale Pot also won't turn sealed Gitan into unsealed Gitan. You can let a Scoopie throw Dirt in your extra Sale Pots and generate random grasses.

This also lets you use Gitan bags as projectiles, but they heal rather than damage Froggos.

Try to kill Froggos without giving them any chance to steal Gitan from you. You can stop them with Sleep Talisman, Slow Talisman, Seal Staff, Paralysis Staff, etc. Froggos seem to have about a 1/3 chance of stealing your Gitans on any given turn, so fighting them hand-to-hand is not the worst idea.
