Since the third game, Cid appears as a totally different character with a unique design for both story and gameplay. It is essentially the same character in its remake.
In Other Media
Since Final Fantasy II, this name was attributed to many other characters from both the Final Fantasy mainline and spin-off series. Thus, he is a different character from the mainline series, and within the Chocobo subseries.
