Item Tagging (Japanese: タグ) is a way to protect your swords and shield. If you lose a tagged sword or shield, you can get it back at Hermit's Hermitage.

Ways to tag things:

  • You can tag an item for ??? Gitan at any shopkeeper in town or in dungeons.
  • Tag Scroll
  • Wandering character

You can have at most 8 tagged items on a save file.

There are a few ways you can lose a tag

  • getting equipment back at Sentry
  • selling the equipment
  • a Mudster attack.
  • Some shopkeepers can remove (for free)

A tag does not protect your sword or shield if it was turned into something else. For example, if

  • It was turned into an onigiri by an onigiri monster or an Onigiri Scroll
  • It was turned into Weeds by a King Knave
  • It was sold by being inserted into a Sale Pot, or targeted by a Sale Scroll
  • It was inserted into a Presto Pot
