Sensei (Japanese: センセー) is the thirteenth boss in the game. Sensei is Shiren's long time master and uncle. During their travels throughout Karakuri Mansion, Sensei had been looking for an opportunity to have a proper battle with Shiren. His reasoning was to make sure Shiren measured up to his father, Gimensha. Sensei has long been burdened by being in his brothers shadow so to speak. Always a step behind Gimensha and his great accomplishments, unable to catch up. He feels it is his fault that Gimensha died in a dungeon since he allowed Gimensha to go alone when he could have tried to stop him or assist him. This current showdown was Sensei's attempt to have a very serious fight so that he could be killed by Shiren in battle as a pseudo honorable way to end his suffering. After you defeat Sensei here, Asuka puts a stop to the battle, then Sensei reveals his true reasoning for his actions before seeking some temporary solitude to mull things over.

Strategy

Sensei is sort of like a glass cannon boss fight. He only has two attacks, his basic attack which is two powerful swings from his swords, or he can perform his signature move Bushido Dance which does a static 70 damage to the 8 tiles around Sensei. He is likely to spam Bushido Dance and based on health averages by this point in the game, you are likely to die in 2 possibly 3 hits from Sensei. With that in mind, this boss battle can be approached in two ways. The first strategy you can employ is to simply rush him down first. Set up Shiren and Asuka so they are next to each other, wait for Sensei to approach (hit him with Projectiles while he walks over to you,) and then beat him down first. So long as you don't miss, which may cause you to back off and heal, you should easily be able to wrack up 200 damage on Sensei before he kills you off depending on your gear. If you have less than 140 hp then this strategy will be extremely risky to you, as he can two shot your characters with Bushido Dance. In fact, you will want to always make sure you have over 70 hp or spare Revival Herb ready to be consumed. If you have any beneficial Herbs such as Haste Herb or Hercules Herb then this strategy becomes a lot more viable to quickly pull off. It will also help to have Shiren dual wield Weapons instead of using a Shields.

The second strategy you can utilize is safer but slower. Since Sensei has to be adjacent to you in order to do anything, you can create a really safe damage set up. Make sure you have a decent sized stack of arrows, you don't need too many to do 200 damage here. Have your tank character approach Sensei and move your attacker diagonally over to the side. Line up Sensei so that when he is adjacent to your tank, he is on the Diagonal line of your attacker. Your attacker can now pelt Sensei with arrows every single turn until he is dead. Your tank, instead of attacking should move diagonally away from Sensei, but so when Sensei chases them, he stays on the same line as your attacker. Sensei should always move towards the closest character, so you can keep moving diagonally to avoid getting hit and have Sensei follow you. Eventually you will reach the wall and you will take one hit from Sensei, then turn around and start walking towards your attacker. Before you reach your attacker, start walking back diagonally away from them. Then rinse and repeat this process until you win. Sensei will go down in no time doing this. Just make sure your tank is always above 70 hp so you can survive Bushido Dance. You don't want to move adjacent to your attacker so Sensei doesn't go after them when you step diagonally away from him.
