The Pot King (Japanese: ツボキング) is the ninth boss fight in the game. This entity is the guardian of Princess Kaguya's Jar, which seems to be directly tied to keeping anything sealed inside of it from escaping so long as it lives. It is unclear how this entity seals away people within it. Only by bringing together its scattered shards throughout its dungeon can you then engage the Pot King in a fight. Asuka and Shiren eventually defeat the Pot King and thus save everyone that was sealed within it.
Strategy
The Pot King recovers 10 HP at the end of each of its turns, which is a respectable amount of health that will stall the fight out somewhat. The main feature of this boss is that it will occasionally spawn Items and Monsters of his dungeon into the room. Specifically, it spawns Bonni and Piggo. The only offensive attack it has is Spinning Blade, which hits the 3 tiles in front of it but does not cause any harm to the other monsters.
For this fight, it can be wise to focus solely on attacking the Pot King. Any items that spew out from the Pot King will be automatically collected at the end of the fight so long as you have space in your inventory, so don't worry about going out of your way for them. None of them are particularly noteworthy anyway. The extra monsters can be extremely useful to you in this fight if you are well prepared. They are all susceptible to your wanderer tricks and status's as normal. The tactic I like to utilize is to throw any Confusion Herb or Confusion Spell you may have at the monsters. Confused monsters will have a chance of helping you by attacking the Pot King. Also, before employing this tactic, make sure you do have an emergency item on hand to deal with a monster that levels up. A level 3 Piggora can decimate you from a distance, and if behind the pot king could be problematic to reach. If you lack confusion items then it might be wise to just use a Paralysis Staff charge or any debilitating effect you have on hand to deal with the monsters without wasting time on fighting and killing them, just because you really don't want the monsters to hit you with their attribute effects or abilities. The Piggo's can paralyze which can be a huge nuisance and Bonni's inflict the sick status, which if you are hit with it twice can spell the demise of the afflicted character.
Realistically, you will want one of your characters to focus on attacking the pot king every single turn, and your second character can support as needed instead of fighting the pot king directly. They can still help with Projectiles. You can lure the Pot King so that his 3x3 body blocks off one of the sides of the arena (have him above you and touching one of the side walls,) and then monsters can only approach you from the open side, allowing your support character an easier time with positioning and giving you an easier time with the fight though this is not necessary to do.
