Karakuri Ah (Japanese: からくり巨人・阿) & Karakuri Unh (Japanese: からくり巨人・吽) are the sixth boss fight in the game. The two are mechanical creations of the Karakuri Mansion. They are essentially large faces and together they protect the front entrance to the mansion. Though, they seem to allow Jurouta and Sensei to pass by unopposed as they only show up to intercept Asuka and Shiren. Karakuri Ah is the one with the arms and Unh the one with the legs.

Strategy

Both of these entities encounter you simultaneously and can create the first semi difficult boss fight in the game. Karakuri Ah has a large mouth cannon which it can fire to do a ranged attack called Gouhareppa that covers the 3 spaces in front of him in a straight line. This attack is preferably fired to the right, as it will damage his partner Karakuri Unh as well, though only for a paltry amount of damage. Karakuri Unh on the other hand utilizes a stomp attack that will hit within the 3 spaces in front of it. These are the only two attacks they will perform every single turn with one exception. Should you feel inclined to try and pass by them, by walking into the middle of them both, then they will perform a team attack that does a lot of damage against your character. So for this fight I highly recommend not moving to any spaces in between these two.

There are two ways to approach this fight. If you want to do the slow and steady route, you will want to have a lot of healing Items on hand because you will be tanking a lot of damage. Pick one of these two bosses and focus them down first. They only have 100 HP each, so they do die fairly quickly. Projectiles work on them, but other effects are nullified as usual, so don't waste your time. Have your main attacker focus the nearby boss and your support line up to attack with ranged weapons or heal your attacker.

The second way to approach this fight, is to have on hand a Haste Herb. If you happen to have one or two of these, then give them to Shiren and give Shiren your two best Weapons. Dual wielding a decent weapon will have you doing more than half of the bosses health in one turn, assuming both attacks don't miss. So on average, you can down one of these enemies in 2 or 3 turns, before they start to wrack up their own damage.

Be warned that upon dying, Karakuri Ah, or Unh will explode and deal half of your current health in damage. Just remember to keep your hit points well above the highest value of damage that the other boss can deal to you, or make sure you kill the boss with your first character so the second can safely heal the damage afterwards. Only the first one you kill will explode and deal damage that affects you. The second one that goes down triggers the victory cutscene, so you don't have to fear taking any damage from them.This explosion is unique in that it does not destroy items on the ground for some reason.
