If the text files provided to the translator were as godawful as those I was given for PS Torneko, I can see why those errors resulted, though.
You'd often see lines like:
VAR1 VAR2 returned
VAR3!
I measured the text windows in the JP version to make sure things fit.

Serves Enix USA right for being cheap slavemasters without editorial backup.
They were paying me a third of my usual rate and with minimal deadlines. It was completely chaotic.
I'm pretty certain I've never had as much fun.

I got into the trade because I wanted a shot at translating DQ4 (which had already been done without me realizing), so I jumped when the GBC 1+2 retranslation was offered.
It's a damned shame PS DQ4 was cancelled--I'd just started Torneko's chapter when they canned it.

So much about Enix USA was by the seat of the pants.
George Torii and I defied Enix Japan's order to shut down PS Torneko because the wiki-credited loc company made a total mess of things and used up most of the budget.
We rescued it by beating the deadline at minimal cost.
