NO? -- I found the Upgrade Pot [2] earlier in the run and couldn't figure out what it was. At the first shop I found on floor ??, which is a C-shaped floor, I confirmed it was a 10K pot. There was also another 10K pot for sale in that shop which I never figured out what it was. Later, on 14F - 16F at night, I tried mixing my 10K pot on a shield and it worked to create the Refining rune. I don't remember the precise order of which things appeared on which floor, but there's a slim chance you could merge the Upgrade Pot into a Refining Rune, then tag you sword/shield with that rune, and die intentionally before completing the rescue to hopefully get out the rune (if not the pot itself) via the Sentry in Hermit's Hermitage. It's a long shot though.
