Building up new equipment after death
When you inevitably die and lose everything while playing the story mode, the Portal dungeon is by far the best place to start building up a new set of equipment. There's a few different methods for building up equipment based on which items you've found and unlocked. About one third of the way through the story you unlock the ability to use Dragon Orbs which can allow you to quickly grow new weapons to get back to where you were before you died.
Methods
Items | Method | Notes |
---|---|---|
Demon Sword
Demon Shield |
Find a Demon Sword and Demon Shield and start killing weak monsters. Every 30* Needs confirmation. monsters killed, your sword and shield will gain a +1. By the time you get to a +8 to 10, you shouldn't have too much trouble reaching floor 13 where mixer monsters will spawn and you'll be able to meld them to a better sword and shield and get a new set of equipment going. This is one of the slowest methods. It's the best method to get your foot in the door of the portal dungeon if you have absolutely nothing else. | |
Drought Scroll
Soaked Scroll Air Bless Scroll Soil Bless Scroll |
If you manage to find a drought scroll, toss every scroll that isn't an escape scroll into the water and then use a drought scroll to retrieve them. Every time you climb a floor, Soaked scrolls have a chance to dry out and become a blank scroll. You should always use the first one as another drought scroll and then the rest as Earth and Soil bless scrolls. This works on the story dungeons as well as the portal dungeon. | While you're doing stair-runs while doing these methods, pick up as much loot as possible and sell it to buy as many cheap scrolls as you can. Spending 500 Gitans on a scroll that you turn into a Soaked/Blank/Air Bless scroll is way cheaper than the 1,200 Gitans an Air Bless Scroll would cost you. |
Water jar(s)
Blank Scrolls Air/Soil Scrolls |
If you can manage to find a water jar, you can pour water on a scroll on the floor to soak it. But it's suggested you have a Balance staff at all times. After that, it's just the same method as the previous. | |
Melding Jar(s)
Extraction Scrolls Jar Growth Scrolls |
If you can somehow manage to find and read extraction, jar growth scroll and find a melding jar, you can make an infinite use melding jar. It requires the creation of soaked scrolls from the previous methods. This is the best low-risk method to combine melds onto a sword without having to risk climbing 13 floors to get to the mixer monsters. | I died in the main dungeon and went to the Portal dungeon to grind. I was careless and died 2 more times and lost everything. This method was crucial in getting me a new set of equipment safely. I just explored the early game dungeons with a staff of stability. |
